Did Elise Matthews Ever Really Get Over High School? I'm Thinking So...But Don't Take Anyone's Opinion Too Seriously Including Mine

I'm not entirely convinced Elise is over high school yet...she had kind of a bad experience. Made up for it in college and then some, and had the last laugh...but it seems like she still needs to work on this...

It's also a safe bet, considering Elise was actually born in Marysville, Ohio; that she probably has difficulty with driving situations involving a Yield sign (aka Give Way if you're reading this from UK or Australia)

That said, throughout her long life and acting and filmmaking careers, Elise Matthews could be somewhat of a colorful figure...like the time she showed up at her ten year high school reunion wearing a prom dress.

Elise didn’t have the greatest high school experience anyway, though in her 2050 memoir she acknowledged that she made up for it big time in college and then some...but still didn’t really feel like she was entirely over high school until her forties, though she did have a laugh at her former classmates’ expenses during her ten year high school reunion, when she wore a prom dress to the reunion largely to annoy them.

In 2018, Elise made a bold and nostalgic statement at her ten-year high school reunion by showing up in the very same prom dress she wore in Nobody's Property's music video back in 2008, a duplicate of the one she would have worn to her senior prom had Sam not set fire to the first one in a publicity stunt to get ratings, two hours before the dance.

The second prom dress, an iconic symbol of her ability to overcome adversity no matter what, her rise to fame alongside the band, brought back memories of their breakthrough song whose video launched both her career and theirs. As she entered the reunion venue, she couldn't help but feel a mix of excitement and trepidation, along with a sense of being judged by several of her former classmates, but it wasn’t lost on her that she had fared far better than they had over the years.

Elise was not terribly surprised that she would turn a few heads showing up to the ten year reunion in a prom dress. She had multiple intentions behind wearing it. Not at all to her surprise, and a little to her delight, many of the popular people from her graduating class had undergone significant physical changes since their high school days.

The prom king from the Class of 2008 had experienced a significant thinning of his hair and thickening of his waist over the last decade. Her rival, Julie McCafferty, who had been crowned prom queen, made a point to come over, and scoff at Elise’s choice of attire to the event, even snarkily implying that Elise must have felt the need to wear a prom dress to a high school reunion because she never got to go to prom, to which Elise promptly replied “I went to prom, just not yours. By the way, how’s that gig at the big box store going? You’re not gonna get any more DUIs, are you?”

The once highly popular and socially esteemed individuals seemed to have settled into mundane routines with unremarkable careers and little excitement to share. In contrast, Elise's journey into the film industry had opened doors to exhilarating experiences and opportunities she could never have imagined during her high school days.

Despite the nostalgia and mixed feelings she experienced at the reunion, Elise realized that her career in the film industry had provided her with a unique path and a sense of fulfillment. She’d definitely irked a few of her old rivals by showing up in a prom dress. One that seemingly was in the pasts of most of the other people at the reunion, but still most certainly in her future.
